ANKARA (AA) - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won this season's French league title late Sunday with five matches to spare.
Hosting Monaco at Parc des Princes, PSG smashed Monaco, its nearest opponents in league standings, 7-1.
Goal scorers for Paris were Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso scoring twice, Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, Argentine winger Angel Di Maria putting the ball into the Monaco net twice, and German attacking midfielder Julian Draxler.
Monaco's Colombian striker Radamel Falcao put the ball in his own net near the end of the game.
Visitors Monaco's single goal against PSG was netted by Portuguese winger Rony Lopes.
The victory boosted PSG’s points to 87 and sealed the Ligue 1 title for the Parisian heavyweights with five matches to spare.
It is Paris Saint-Germain’s seventh league title in France, including four consecutive wins in 2013-2016.
Monaco, in second spot, have 70 points in the league.
