ANKARA (AA) - Russia snatched a late draw against England in the two sides' Euro 2016 Group B match at Stade Velodrome in Marseille late Saturday.
England broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute as Tottenham defensive midfielder Eric Dier hit the target from a free kick just outside the box.
However, Russia fought back and equalized with a last-gasp header from Russia captain Vasili Berezutski finished off by defender Denis Glushakov who tapped the ball into the English net at the far post.
UEFA later confirmed that Russia's equalizer was scored by Berezutski.
Meanwhile, Wales got their first appearance in a major international tournament since 1958 off to a flying start Saturday by beating Slovakia 2-1 in the night's other Group B match at Stade de Bordeaux. Wales now top the table.
