MOSCOW (AA) - The Turkish national football team drew against the 2018 FIFA World Cup host nation Russia 1-1 in a friendly match at the CSKA Arena in Moscow on Tuesday evening.
Russia scored the opener in the 35th minute when midfielder Alexander Samedov put the ball into Turkish side's net. Samedov managed to chip the ball over the goalkeeper by a narrow angle.
In the 59th minute Turkey equalized when midfielder Yunus Malli scored from outside the penalty box; his shot had beat the Russian goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev.
This was Yunus' first goal for Turkey in his 18th international match.
The World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 in Russia.
