ANKARA (AA) - English Premier League side Watford confirmed Wednesday that one player and two staff members at the club have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

"Watford Football Club confirms that three people have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus following testing at the training ground over the past 48 hours," the club in a statement on their website.

"Of those three positive tests, one is a player and two are members of staff. All three have asked that medical confidentiality be respected and, therefore, the club will not be naming those involved."

The members are set to self-isolate for seven days, in line with the protocols set out by the English top division.

Separately, English football club Burnley's assistant manager Ian Woan has also been infected by the virus.

"In line with strict Premier League requirements and following a positive test, Ian will now self-isolate for a period of seven days, with a view to being tested again week commencing Monday 25th May," the club said.

Woan, 52, is asymptomatic and in good condition at his home, the statement added.

The EPL was suspended in April due to the pandemic that has killed over 323,400 people worldwide. Watford was on the 17th place with 27 points, while Burnley on 10th with 39 points.
