ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish lira gained value against the U.S. dollar Wednesday, going up to 2.895 against the American currency from 2.9005.
The lira was also positive Tuesday, gaining 1.02 percent against the dollar to close at 2.9005.
The two-year benchmark bond was traded within a range of between 8.95 to 9.08 percent Tuesday, ending during the day at a low of 8.95 percent, 22 base points below its previous close.
According to Istanbul-based Seker Investment’s client note Wednesday morning, "Terror attack at Istanbul Ataturk International Airport will likely cast its shadow over the Turkish equity markets.
"As such it will override the impact of recent recovery in global equity markets following the U.K.’s announcement of fresh incentive packages post Brexit, and improvement of Turkish relations with Israel and Russia," the note added.
At least 36 victims and three suicide bombers were killed while scores of others were injured in a terror attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport Tuesday night, Turkish prime minister said Wednesday.
