Foreign holders of US Treasury Securities climb over record $8T in December

Japan was largest foreign holder with $1.138T

ISTANBUL (AA) - Foreign holders of US Treasury Securities climbed to record-high of more than $8 trillion in December 2023, according to Federal Reserve data released Thursday.

The grand total came in at $8.056 trillion, which is an increase of 3.2% from $7.808 trillion in November.

Annually, the figure was a gain of 10.5% from $7.29 trillion in December 2022.

In December last year, Japan was the biggest foreign holder of US Treasury Securities with $1.138 trillion, according to the Fed data.

It was followed by China with more than $816 billion and the UK with almost $754 billion.
