Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar appointed as Pakistan's deputy prime minister

Dar is already serving as country's foreign minister

KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was appointed as the country's deputy prime minister on Sunday.

"The Prime Minister has been pleased to designate Minister for Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Ishaq Dar as deputy Prime Minister with immediate effect and until further orders," a statement from the Prime Minister Office said.

Dar, a part of Sharif family, is currently accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Saudi Arabia to attend the World Economic Forum summit.

Dar's son is married to a daughter of three-time Prime Minister and Shehbaz Sharif's elder brother, Nawaz Sharif.
