ANKARA (AA) - Former world champions in football Spain reserved their place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 win against Sweden late Sunday.
Spanish forward Alvaro Morata scored the winning goal in the 86th minute in Seville, and the team qualified for the tournament to be held in Qatar next year.
The 2010 World Cup champions, Spain bagged 19 points in eight matches to win the European qualifying Group B.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic-led Sweden, who have 15 points, reached the playoffs as they finished the group in the second spot.
Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, and Serbia have also qualified for the World Cup.
