Former Netherlands midfielder Kevin Strootman on Friday retired from football at the age of 34.
"Careers come to an end. Thank you football!" Strootman said on Instagram.
In addition to the Netherlands, Strootman played for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, Italy's Roma, and France's Olympique Marseille.
Strootman last played for Genoa as his contract at the Italian club expired in June.
He scored 45 goals and made 82 assists in 487 club appearances.
Strootman amassed 46 international caps for the Netherlands.
He helped PSV win a Dutch Cup and Dutch Super Cup.
The Netherlands, Roma, and PSV thanked him for his service.
