BERLIN (AA) - A former member of the far-left terrorist group Red Army Faction (RAF), also known as Baader-Meinhof Group, was arrested in Berlin after being on the run for 30 years, authorities said on Tuesday.
Daniela Klette, one of the senior figures of RAF, was arrested in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, Verden public prosecutor's office told local media.
The 65-year-old belonged to the third generation of RAF members, and was accused of attempted murder, involvement in a number of attacks, and robberies of cash-in-transit vehicles between 1999 and 2016.
She was placed on Europe's Most Wanted list in 2020, together with two other former RAF members, Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub.
Authorities believe the trio robbed supermarkets and cash-in-transit trucks to finance their life underground.
RAF was founded in 1970, and was responsible for dozens of assassinations, kidnappings, and bomb attacks, targeting businessmen, state officials, and US soldiers. The group announced its self-dissolution in 1998.
