WASHINGTON (AA) - Activists protested Jared Kushner, former US President Donald Trump's White House advisor and his son-in-law, during his speech Wednesday at an Anti-Defamation League (ADL) conference in New York.
A female activist stood up and shouted: "You are not a civil rights ally," and called Kushner a "fascist,” according to footage circulating on social media of his speech at the pro-Israel advocacy's annual meeting. Several participants reportedly exited the hall.
Another protester shouted "warmonger" and "cease-fire now," then said: "ADL values Israel over everything else.".
Still, another activist shouted for Israel to stop bombing Palestine before being escorted out of the conference hall.
The protest is among the latest actions targeting US officials for their inaction in halting Israeli assaults in Gaza and their support for Israel.
Israel has waged a deadly military offensive, now in day 152, on the Gaza Strip since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, which Tel Aviv said killed nearly 1,200 people.
More than 30,700 Palestinians have since been killed and over 72,000 injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.
Israel has also imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip, leaving its population, particularly residents of northern Gaza, on the verge of starvation.
The Israeli war has pushed 85% of Gaza’s population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
