Formula 1 fever to hit Canada this weekend

Round 9 to be run over 70 laps of 4.3 km circuit in Montreal; Max Verstappen is leading season so far

ISTANBUL (AA) - Canada this weekend is set to host the ninth round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship.

The Canadian Grand Prix will run over 70 laps at Montreal's 4.361-kilometer (2.7-mile) Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Notre Dame Island in Montreal.

The qualifying round will be held at 2000GMT on Saturday, and the race will start at the 1800GMT on Sunday.

Looking at the winners so far this 2024 season, Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen has won five of eight races, with Ferrari's Carlos Sainz was triumphant in Melbourne, McLaren's Lando Norris in Miami, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the Monaco Grand Prix.
