Formula 1: Hamilton wins Tuscan Grand Prix

Only 12 drivers cross finish line as 8 others went out of race due to crashes

ISTANBUL (AA) - Mercedes team's Lewis Hamilton claimed the ninth race of the 2020 Formula 1 season at the Tuscan Grand Prix in Italy.


The British driver finished the 59-lap race in 2:19:35 to get the sixth victory of the season.


His teammate Valtteri Bottas from Finland trailed 4.8 seconds behind Hamilton.


Red Bull Racing Honda's Thai driver Alexander Albon came in third with 8 seconds behind the leader.


Meanwhile, Grand Prix has been red-flagged after two dangerous accidents at the race.


Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen, Scuderia Alpha Tauri's Pierre Gasly, Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi, Williams's Nicholas Latifi, Haas' Kevin Magnussen, McLaren's Carlos Sainz, Racing Point's Lance Stroll were out of the race due to crashes.


Also, Renault driver Esteban Ocon was out of the race due to a technical malfunction, and a total of 12 drivers managed to cross the finish line.


The next race of the 2020 season is scheduled for Sept. 27 in Russia.
