France’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jean-Francois Pactet died at 53.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the French Foreign Ministry announced the death of Pactet, the ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives.
“We extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends,” the statement said.
The ministry hailed a “talented diplomat, a Chevalier in the National Order of Merit and holder of the Medal of Honour of Foreign Affairs.”
Pactet was appointed the ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives in 2022, French daily 20 Minutes reported.
