Weaker energy prices main reason for decreasing rate

ISTANBUL (AA) - The annual inflation rate in France fell to 1.2% in September, down from 1.8% in August, according to official figures from the statistical office Insee released on Friday.

The sharp decrease in inflation was driven by a decline in energy prices, particularly petroleum products.

The prices of services eased over a year and those of manufactured products dropped at a slightly faster rate than in the previous month.

The prices of food and tobacco rose at the same rate as in the previous month.

Over a month, consumer prices fell by 1.2% in September 2024, after increasing 0.5% in August.
