The French embassy in Türkiye’s capital held a reception Thursday to celebrate Bastille Day, hosted by France's Ambassador Isabelle Dumont.

In her speech, Ambassador Dumont highlighted that July 14th is a day to celebrate historical events and values. She emphasized that these values, based on the principles of equality, fraternity and popular sovereignty, extend far beyond France’s borders, becoming a source of pride and a celebration for all.

Addressing Türkiye-France relations, Dumont noted the ongoing sincere and open dialogue on regional and global issues, underscoring the importance of continuing this exchange of views.

"This dialogue is especially important in a time when conflicts and humanitarian crises continue in our vicinity, particularly in Ukraine and Gaza, when the issue of global warming has become more severe than ever, and when other global issues such as artificial intelligence are added.

"We believe that we must continue to exchange views on all these topics, and President Emmanuel Macron, who met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the NATO summit in Washington, is determined on this matter," she said.

Dumont also highlighted efforts to deepen cooperation and enhance economic relations between the two countries, saying the trade volume has continued to grow, surpassing $23 billion and setting a new record.

The reception concluded with a meal.
