PARIS (AA) – A French lawyer advocating for Palestinian rights at the International Criminal Court will include Anadolu's photographs as evidence in a complaint against Israel.
Lawyer Gilles Devers, who filed a complaint on Nov. 9 against the crimes Israel committed in Palestine, paid a visit to Anadolu's Paris bureau.
He told Anadolu that the complaint was under review and that the lawyers would insert Anadolu's photographs as evidence of the use of white phosphorus bombs in the Gaza Strip.
Devers explained that the trial process could be long.
"We need documents of good quality," the lawyer said. "We are looking for strong, clear evidence, going in the same direction. (Anadolu's) Those photographs are a part of it."
He recalled that the use of white phosphorus bombs was prohibited in residential areas since it caused burns and infections.
The ICC, for the first time in its history, is facing such a serious matter where 1.5 million people were displaced and 20,000 others were killed in such a short time.
The court cannot afford to ignore or reject an investigation into this subject, according to Devers, who added: "If the court ignores it, it would be a failure and it would wipe off its prestige."
He stressed that there is a heavy burden on ICC's shoulders.
Qatar announced an agreement late Monday to extend an initial four-day humanitarian pause in fighting between Israel and Hamas for two more days.
Israel launched a massive military campaign in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
It has since killed over 15,000 people, including 6,150 children and 4,000 women, according to health authorities in the enclave.
The official Israeli death toll stands at 1,200.
