ISTANBUL (AA) - French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand city on late Wednesday, as part of his two-day tour to Central Asia.
“Upon arrival in our country on an official visit, the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took a walk through the night in Samarkand,” said a statement by the Uzbek presidency.
The statement said the two presidents visited the Registan Square and the Silk Road Samarkand touristic complex, adding that bilateral talks will take place on Thursday.
Macron started a regional visit to Central Asia earlier in the day with a first official visit to Kazakhstan, where the French president met with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana.
