ANKARA (AA) - French President Emmanuel Macron’s top advisor was placed under formal investigation over an alleged “conflict of interest,” local media reported on Monday.
Alexis Kohler, the secretary-general of the Elysee, was also placed under the status of assisted witness for "influence peddling" over his links with the Italian-Swiss shipping company MSC, run by his maternal cousins, public broadcaster Franceinfo reported.
Kohler, known to be the most trusted advisor to the president, refused any wrongdoing and will retain his post, it added.
