ISTANBUL (AA) – Istanbul powerhouse Galatasaray on Thursday will face Azerbaijani side Neftci in UEFA Europa League’s 2nd qualifying round in hopes of their 100th win in European play.
This game at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan’s capital will kick off at 7.00 p.m. Turkish time (1600GMT) and will be refereed by Kevin Clancy from Scotland.
The match will be a single leg, and the winning team will qualify for the Europa League's third qualifying round.
Playing in the first qualifying round at Bakcell Arena, Neftci eliminated Macedonian club KF Shkupi with a score of 2-1.
The Yellow-Reds had 99 wins, 111 defeats and 75 draws, and also scored 377 goals and conceded 428 goals in 285 European organizations.
If Galatasaray best Neftci, it will be the Lions’ 100th victory in Europe.
Galatasaray’s legendary defender Bulent Korkmaz has made the most appearances in European cup play, having taken the field in 101 European competitions.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the match will be played behind closed doors.
