ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish Super Lig will see a critical Galatasaray-Besiktas derby on Saturday as the result of the showdown will shape the football division's top.
Before the clash, Besiktas are feeling quite comfortable as the Black Eagles have 81 points to lead the league.
Third-place Galatasaray and another Istanbul powerhouse Fenerbahce, who are now in the second position, are seeking Besiktas' mistakes, but the 2020-21 Super Lig season will end in three-match weeks.
Fenerbahce have bagged 76 points in 37 matches. Galatasaray are only a point behind their bitter rivals Fenerbahce.
Galatasaray should win the derby to keep their title hopes alive.
Besiktas won against Galatasaray 2-0 in January at Vodafone Park.
Saturday's derby in Galatasaray's home, Turk Telekom Stadium, will kick off at 8.30 p.m. local time (1730GMT).
Veteran Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir will officiate the match.
- Players to miss derby
Galatasaray's 25-year-old Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo, who is still in quarantine due to COVID-19, will not play against Besiktas.
Many Besiktas players will be ineligible for the Galatasaray match.
Cameroonian forward Vincent Aboubakar is troubled by a hamstring injury, French winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou suffers from thigh muscle strain, and Turkish striker Cenk Tosun is recovering from Patellar Tendon Rupture.
Aboubakar is one of the essential goal threats of Besiktas as this season, he scored 15 league goals in 26 appearances.
