ISTANBUL (AA) - Welsh football star Gareth Bale confirmed on Sunday that he is joining US top-tier league MLS (Major League Soccer) club Los Angeles FC.

"See you soon, Los Angeles " Bale said on Twitter, posting a video of him in a cap and club jersey.

The 32-year-old had previously made appearances for Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Real Madrid. He scored 106 goals in 258 matches for Real Madrid.

The Welsh winger clinched five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cup trophies, three Spanish La Liga, and three UEFA Super Cups with Los Blancos.

His contract with Real Madrid will expire on June 30.

Bale, who has been a longtime Wales national team player since 2006, helped his country advance to the semifinals of the 2016 European football championship.

Meanwhile, in 2013, Real Madrid had inked Bale from Tottenham Hotspur for a €101 million ($106 million) transfer fee, which was a world record-breaking price at the time.
