GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - The Gaza-based Supreme Council for Sports said Saturday the Israeli army has killed hundreds of sports figures and destroyed dozens of fields.

The sports body said in a statement that the Israeli army also turned stadiums and sports clubs into torture and execution centers, citing the Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City

It urged international authorities to take decisive action and hold the army accountable for inhumane activities inflicted upon athletes.

Since Hamas’ cross-border attack on Oct. 7, Israel has continued relentless attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 21,672 Palestinians and injuring 165, the Health Ministry in the blockaded enclave said Saturday.

Israeli authorities claimed that the Hamas attacks have killed 1,200 Israelis.

The Israeli onslaught has left Gaza in ruins, with 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure damaged or destroyed.
