BERLIN (AA) - A German court on Wednesday rejected a compensation claim of a man who sued BioNTech for the alleged side effects of its coronavirus vaccine.
The 58-year-old man had claimed that he started to have concentration problems and lost sight in one eye, after receiving a second dose of the vaccine two years ago.
The court in Rottweil rejected his claim for compensation, stating that he could not provide sufficient scientific evidence for the allegations, but noted that he can appeal the judgment within one month.
During the trial, the man told the court that he was diagnosed with eye infarction, only a day after receiving the second dose, and he lost sight almost completely in one eye, due to the vaccine’s side effects.
He demanded €150,000 ($162,000) in compensation, and further commitment from BioNTech that he must be compensated for any further damage.
