ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany's economy expanded 4% year-on-year in the first quarter, official figures showed on Wednesday.
The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said the first quarter of 2021 was the quarter when the country's economy had been affected by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Compared with the fourth quarter of 2019, the quarter before the COVID-19 crisis began, GDP was 0.9% lower," it said.
On a quarterly basis, the GDP grew 0.2% in the January-March period of 2022.
