Germany's retail sales posted monthly growth in October, reversing four months of declines, according to data released on Thursday.
The real (price-adjusted) turnover of retail enterprises climbed 1.1% in October from a month earlier, following a 0.8% drop in September, Destatis data showed.
The figure beat estimates, as economists had expected the reading to rise 0.4%.
Sales of non-food and internet/mail order trade backed the monthly data by rising 1.4% and 2.9%, respectively, from September. On the other hand, food sales dropped 1.3%.
On a yearly basis, retail sales plunged 0.1% in October, easing from September's 4.3% fall.
