BERLIN (AA) - Ukraine can use German weapons to hit targets on Russian territory to defend Kharkiv, a government spokesman confirmed on Friday.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s spokesman said Germany and its allies are continuously adapting their military support to Ukraine according to the developments on the battlefield.
“In recent weeks, Russia has prepared, coordinated and carried out attacks on the Kharkiv region, particularly from the directly adjacent Russian border region,” Steffen Hebestreit said in a statement.
“Together we are convinced that Ukraine has the right under international law to defend itself against these attacks. To this end, it can also use the weapons delivered for this purpose, including those supplied by us, in accordance with its international legal obligations,” he added.
