German woman converts to Islam in southwestern Türkiye

Conversion ceremony held for Jennifer Paula Gorlitz at local mufti's office

AYDIN, Türkiye (AA) - A German woman converted to Islam Thursday in southern Türkiye.

A ceremony was held for Jennifer Paula Gorlitz at the local mufti's office in southwestern Aydin province where she declared her faith in the oneness of Allah and accepted Prophet Muhammad as his messenger.

Gorlitz, 40, who lives in Germany with her husband Erdinc Efeoglu, said she decided to become a Muslim after doing deep research.

Mufti Kazim Unsal told her about the fundamental principles of Islam during the ceremony.

Unsal gave Gorlitz a "conversion certificate" and a copy of the holy Quran in the German language.
