BERLIN (AA) - Voting continued in Germany on Sunday to elect 96 of the 720 lawmakers who will make up Europe’s new parliament.
Germany, the country that sends the most parliamentarians to the European Parliament, has 64 million registered voters eligible to vote in the elections.
The voting will end at 6:00 p.m. local time.
In 2019, the voter turnout was 61.4%.
In Germany, a total of 1,413 candidates from 35 different parties and political groups are competing to enter the European Parliament.
For the first time in the country, individuals aged 16 and 17, will also be able to vote in the elections.
