ANKARA (AA) – Germany won the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup by beating Serbia 83-77 in the final on Sunday.
The first half was played head-to-head as it ended with 47-47 draw, but then Germany had the wind behind them in the third period, as they widened the gap to 12 points at one point.
Dennis Schroder led the Germans to win in their maiden World Cup final with 28 points, while Franz Wagner contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds at the Manila Mall of Asia Arena.
Aleksa Avramovic dropped 21 points for Serbia, while Serbian star Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 17 points.
Serbia failed to win their third World Cup trophy, they won twice as Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, in their fourth final.
Germany's Dennis Schroder won the TCL Player of the Game award.
