ANKARA (AA) - Germany's car sales were up 9.9% in 2021, but they were still below the pre-pandemic level of 2019, according to the Federal Statistical Office on Thursday.
The country exported passenger cars worth of €117.6 billion ($131.3 billion) last year, Destatis said in a statement.
That level was still 8.2% lower than 2019, the year before the coronavirus was declared a global pandemic.
The top destinations of German cars last year were China, the US and the UK.
While Germany exported passenger cars of €16.7 billion worth to China last year, €15.9 billion worth was exported to the US and another €9.4 billion worth to the UK, the statement said.
