Germany's economic sentiment rises in June, still in negative territory

Current conditions index stands at minus 27.6 in June, rising 8.9 points from previous month

ANKARA (AA) - Germany's economic sentiment index rose to minus 28 in June, according to the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) on Tuesday.

While the market expectation for the index was to come in at minus 27.5, the latest figure is a 6.3-point increase from minus 34.3 in May.

Germany's current conditions index stood at minus 27.6 in June, rising 8.9 points from the previous month.

The market estimate for the index was minus 31, while the index stood at minus 36.5 in May.

Up to 300 experts from banks, insurance companies, and financial departments of corporations are interviewed about their assessments for the indexes, according to ZEW.

Participants are asked about their six-month expectations concerning the economy, inflation, interest rates, stock markets, and exchange rates in the euro area, Germany, Japan, the US, UK, France, and Italy, as well as their expectations about oil prices.
