Germany's foreign trade volume contracts in June

Country's exports down by 4.4%, imports by 6.4%, year-on-year in June

ISTANBUL (AA) — German exports and imports declined on a yearly basis in June, the federal statistical bureau Destatis revealed on Wednesday.

The country's exports totaled €127.7 billion ($139.5 billion), down 4.4%, while imports amounted to €107.3 billion in a 6.4% fall, Destatis stated.

The country's foreign trade surplus was at €20.4 billion in June.

Goods exports to other EU members totaled €69.7 billion, while imports were worth €56.3 billion.

Exports of goods to countries outside the bloc amounted to €57.9 billion, while imports from these countries totaled €51 billion.

Exports to Russia declined by 3.2% to €600 million in June versus May 2024. Compared with June 2023 — when exports to Russia had already taken a sharp downturn over the war in Ukraine — exports fell by 22.2%.

Imports from Russia dropped 1.5% to €200 million in June from May and were down 44.8% compared with June 2023.
