BERLIN (AA) - Germany’s Hamburg Airport was closed to passengers, and flights were canceled late Saturday after a vehicle broke through security fences and entered the premises, according to media reports.
An armed person broke the door and entered the apron at Hamburg Airport around 8 p.m. local time, federal police spokesperson Thomas Gerbert told German Press Agency (DPA).
Federal police said the man fired twice into the air with a weapon. Police also said that the man's wife had previously contacted them about a possible child abduction.
A large number of officers from state and federal police were on site and in the vicinity of the vehicle.
