Germany's trade surplus at $3.7B in September

Imports surge 30.7%, exports up 20.3% on annual basis, official data shows

ANKARA (AA) – Germany registered a foreign trade surplus of €3.7 billion ($3.65 billion) in September, according to official data released on Wednesday.

The figure was up from a €1.2 billion surplus in August, but significantly lower than €11.7 billion in September 2021, the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

Imports surged 30.7% year-on-year to €130.8 billion, while exports jumped 20.3% to €134.5 billion.

German exports to Russia plummeted 52.6% from a year ago and slipped 5.6% on a monthly basis to €1 billion.

Imports from Russia dropped 33.1% month-on-month to €1.8 billion, according to Destatis data.

Most German exports in July went to the US, while the largest amount of imports came from China.
