BEIRUT (AA) - The Greek Cypriot administration pledged Thursday not to provide logistical support to Israel in a potential war against the Lebanese Hezbollah group.

The announcement comes a day after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned the administration against allowing Israel to use its bases in the event of a wider war.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib discussed the issue in a phone call with his Greek Cypriot counterpart Constantinos Kombos, state news agency NNA reported.

Bou Habib expressed confidence in the Greek Cypriot administration's positive role in maintaining regional stability.

"Lebanon trusts in the positive role the Greek Cypriot administration plays in ensuring regional stability," he said.

Kombos in reply said the administration aims to be part of the solution rather than the problem in the Israel-Hezbollah crisis.

The Greek Cypriot administration does not wish to be involved in any way in a regional war, Kombos said, underlining their stance of non-involvement.

Nasrallah said supporting Israel in case of a war would make the Greek Cypriot administration a party to the war and "Hezbollah would treat it accordingly."
