ATHENS (AA) – Greek and Israeli air forces held an aerial refueling exercise in south of Crete, local media reported on Friday.
During the exercise, which took place on Monday but was announced today due to “security reasons,” an Israeli aerial tanker provided aerial refueling to a large number of Greek F-16 jets.
The Greek Kathimerini daily reported that the Israeli plane entered Greek airspace on Monday and left on Tuesday.
Speaking to the daily, military sources stressed the importance of the area for Greece.
