ATHENS (AA) - Greek maritime workers on Wednesday went on strike over the death of a ferry passenger last week at the Port of Piraeus, near Athens.
The Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) said in a statement that the strike aims to show solidarity with Antonis Karyotis, 36, who died when he was pushed off a ferry by crewmen just before it left the dock, throwing him into the swirling water of the boat’s wake.
Reiterating that not all maritime workers should be targeted categorically for the death of Karyotis, the union said they will support the family of the deceased.
