KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait (AA) - The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) said a ministerial meeting will be held in Kuwait on Thursday to prepare for the 45th summit of GCC leaders in early December.

In a statement, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi confirmed that the 162nd ministerial meeting would be chaired by Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al Yahya, the current president of the council’s ministerial session.

The meeting will include foreign ministers from all GCC member states -- Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.

Albudaiwi said the meeting is part of ongoing preparations for the 45th GCC summit, scheduled to take place in Kuwait on Sunday, with the heads of state in attendance.

During the meeting, the GCC ministers will review several reports related to the implementation of decisions made during the 44th summit held in Doha, Qatar, in 2023.

The ministers will also discuss updates on strategic dialogues and relations between the GCC countries, and countries and global blocs, in addition to addressing the latest regional and international developments.

In a related development, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah received Albudaiwi at Bayan Palace in Kuwait City on Wednesday.

The Crown Prince was briefed on the topics slated for discussion at the upcoming leaders' summit.

The 44th GCC summit, hosted by Qatar on Dec. 5, 2023, called for an end to the war in Gaza.
