ANKARA (AA) – Ilkay Gundogan on Sunday shared his thoughts on being Manchester City's official captain, after leading his team to a 4-0 victory against Bournemouth in the English Premier League on Saturday, in a game he scored once.
"Proud to be the captain of this amazing team and this great club," Gundogan wrote on an official Instagram post.
"I've already worn the armband before, but to be named the official captain for the first time is really a big honour," the 31-year-old footballer said and added: "I will continue to give everything on and off the pitch to make this a very successful season."
The German midfielder, who joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund (won one German Bundesliga title in 2012 with them) in 2016, bagged four Premier League titles (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022) and one FA Cup (2019) with the Citizens.
