ABUJA, Nigeria (AA) - At least 13 villagers have been killed and others wounded by armed attackers in Nigeria's Niger state, an official said Friday.
Wasiu Abiodun, spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, said unidentified gunmen attacked villagers working in the fields in Nakundna village.
National media reported that 37 villagers were killed in the attack.
Abiodun said the injured were taken to the hospital and that security forces were dispatched and an investigation has been launched.
Motorcycling was recently banned in some states because armed attackers have been preparing attacks using them.
