WASHINGTON (AA) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Türkiye's Yesim Oruc as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Moldova on Thursday.
"She starts today," spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
Oruc brings more than 25 years of experience in development.
Oruc previously served as the Resident Coordinator for the UN in Guyana as well as in other senior positions with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the United States, Albania and Romania.
She holds a master’s degree in Middle East studies from the American University in Cairo and a bachelor's degree in political science from Yale University in the US.
