Hamas leader holds US responsible for attack on hospital in Gaza

‘This genocide is borne by those who provided cover in the (UN) Security Council,’ says Ismail Haniyeh

RAMALLAH, Palestine, (AA) - The head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas group said Tuesday that the US is responsible for the bombing of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which left hundreds of Palestinians dead and wounded.

“The Israeli bombing is a massacre that confirms the brutality of this enemy and the extent of the resounding defeat it suffered in the face of the resistance,” Ismail Haniyeh said in a televised speech.

"The enemy is responsible for this massacre. They struck a hospital, a mosque and a church in the same area. The Americans, who gave unlimited cover to this enemy to commit these massacres, bear responsibility for it too," he added.

"This genocide is borne by those who provided cover in the (UN) Security Council and refused to condemn this occupation."

Haniyeh pointed out that "the resistance is ongoing” and will not stop until the Israeli occupation leaves.

More than 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital on Tuesday, Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told Anadolu.

Footage on social media showed corpses scattered across the hospital grounds.

According to an Anadolu reporter, thousands of Palestinians were at the hospital when the building came under bombardment.
