ANKARA (AA) - Lewis Hamilton on Thursday said that he believes his team Mercedes is better prepared for the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix.
In the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix, the English driver had missed out on pole position by 4.795 seconds in his qualifying drive.
"I think we've understood some of the issues that we had that weekend and I think we rectified some of that in the race, so I think we're better prepared," Hamilton is quoted as saying by the official website of Formula 1.
The 36-year-old added that the track has potentially shifted a little bit so that they might face slightly different challenges in the upcoming race.
Hamilton had claimed his record-breaking seventh world title with his 2020 Turkish Grand Prix.
He shared memories of his victory, saying: "It was, of course, an incredible moment, and what a difficult race ... To then have come out on top, with no real mistakes within the race – it was an emotional time."
He avoided giving a clear answer to the question of whether he would use a new power unit and said, "At the moment, I still have numbers two and three. So I don't envisage us having to take one at the moment, but that could change. Who knows?"
Mercedes driver may receive a grid penalty in the Turkish Grand Prix if he uses a new power unit.
Lewis Hamilton took his 100th Formula One win at the Russian Grand Prix on Sept. 26, in which Dutch driver Max Verstappen finished second although he started the race from 20th on the grid as he got a penalty for taking a new power unit.
