BEIRUT (AA) - The Lebanese Hezbollah group said Tuesday that it had attacked Israeli military positions near the border with southern Lebanon.
The group said in a statement that its fighters struck gatherings of Israeli soldiers near the Ramia military site and Zebdine position with “appropriate weapons,” resulting in “direct hits.”
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported several Israeli airstrikes on Lebanese border towns, including Al-Tarrash and Blida.
There were no reports yet of casualties.
The Israeli army, for its part, said a soldier had died from wounds he sustained in a Hezbollah attack last week.
Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
