BEIRUT (AA) - Lebanese group Hezbollah claimed a drone attack on an Israeli military site in northern Israel on Monday amid reports of injuries.

Hezbollah said the explosive-laden drone attack targeted a military position south of Metula, inflicting casualties and damaging several vehicles.

Two Israelis were injured in the attack, according to The Times of Israel newspaper.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported at least eight Israeli airstrikes in several border towns in southern Lebanon following the drone attack.

An Israeli military statement said its warplanes struck around 15 buildings inside a Hezbollah-affiliated camp in the Arab Al-Lwaiza area in southern Lebanon.

No reports were yet available about casualties or damage.

Tensions have risen along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv presses ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 34,600 people since last October following a Hamas attack.
