JERUSALEM (AA) – Hezbollah on Monday fired dozens of rockets towards northern Israel, triggering the activation of sirens in several settlements, according to Israeli media.

Israel's Army Radio said sirens were activated in multiple northern Israeli settlements when dozens of rockets were detected being fired from Lebanon towards the western Galilee region.

However, the report did not specify whether some of these rockets hit targets or were intercepted by Israeli forces, nor did it mention any casualties or material damage.

The Times of Israel news website, citing an Israeli army statement, said 30 rockets were fired.

It added that the Israeli army struck, what it claimed, was a building used by the Hezbollah group in Markaba town in southern Lebanon.

The Hezbollah group earlier said its fighters fired Katyusha rockets at the Israeli settlements of Ein Yaakoub, Ja'aton, and Yehiam, in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon.

Tensions have risen along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed over 40,800 people since last Oct. 7 following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
