Hezbollah says another member killed on Lebanese-Israeli border

Tension flares along Lebanon-Israel border amid intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces, Hezbollah

BIERUT, Lebanon (AA) – Lebanese group Hezbollah said Wednesday that one of its members had been killed in clashes with Israeli forces near the border between Lebanon and Israel.

The group, however, did not provide any details about the circumstances leading to its member’s death.

In a separate statement, Hezbollah said its fighters had struck gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the vicinity of the Raheb outpost and al-Bayyad military site in Blida in southern Lebanon, causing casualties.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

At least 78 Hezbollah members have been killed in cross-border clashes since Oct. 8.

The border tension comes as Israel widened its air and ground operations in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Israeli border towns on Oct. 7.
