BEIRUT (AA) - Hezbollah on Friday claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the Ma'ayan Baruch military site in northern Israel, while Israel confirmed it had detected three anti-tank missiles and an explosive drone launched from Lebanon.
In a statement, Hezbollah said that its fighters “targeted the Ma'ayan Baruch site in northern Israel with a strike drone, hitting the target accurately."
Separately, Lebanon's National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes struck the southern border town of Aitaroun earlier in the day.
The agency added that Israeli surveillance drones had been flying over villages in the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon throughout the night and into the morning, extending to the outskirts of the city of Tyre.
It also noted that Israeli forces fired flares over border villages near the Blue Line and opened fire with heavy machine guns towards the hills of Labouneh and Al-Aalam in the western sector at dawn.
The Israeli Army Radio said: “An explosive drone launched from Lebanon crashed in an open area in the Upper Galilee, causing no injuries."
“Three anti-tank missiles were launched from Lebanon towards the Galilee Panhandle, but no injuries were reported," it added.
Tensions have spiked along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its brutal onslaught on the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 40,900 people since last Oct. 7.
