Hezbollah says its operations on Lebanese southern border left over 1,500 Israelis injured

Hezbollah also said it struck several Israeli military locations across border areas with Israel

BEIRUT (AA) - The Lebanese Hezbollah group on Monday said its military operations on the country’s southern border since Oct. 8 have left over 1,500 Israelis injured.

"The number of enemy injuries in the settlements adjacent to the border areas with Lebanon reached 1,523," Hezbollah said in a statement cited by the Lebanese official news agency NNA.

The statement did not say how it determined the number of injured among the Israelis.

The Israeli side has yet to comment on the Hezbollah claim.

Separately, the group said it targeted an Israeli force on Karantina hill near the Hadb Yaroun Israeli post.

It added that its fighters attacked Israel’s Branit barracks with two surface-to-surface Burkan missiles, inflicting a direct hit.

Tension has flared along the border between Israel and Lebanon since last month, amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension comes as Israel continues its relentless air and ground operations in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Israeli border towns on Oct. 7.
